Quality Management System

For over 40 years, Cafferkey Civils Ltd. has been delivering high quality workmanship and a high quality service to our clients in line with the requirements of international quality standards, to ensure that our client’s requirements are fully met. This results in most of our new work coming from repeat business from the same clients or referrals from them over the years.

The QMS that we operate has strict procedures and control measures in place to help ensure works are carried out to the highest industry standards and in accordance with the design team drawings and specification.

When the company is awarded a new project, a Quality Plan is prepared by the managing director containing all key Quality & Environmental aspects relating to the project. This is communicated to the project team through the pre-start meeting and is monitored throughout the construction stage through audits and testing to ensure specification compliance.

In recognition of the company’s QMS, Cafferkey Civils Ltd has been awarded ISO 9001:2015 accreditation.

The latest technology in civil engineering equipment is used for setting out complex construction sites, structures and services to precise co-ordinates.

Robotic Total Stations and GPS Units are used on all our construction sites to ensure ultimate accuracy in setting out and speed of construction

CBR testing being carried out at road formation level to test ground bearing strength on site prior to construction of roads.

Plate tests are taken by point loading plates at pre-determined locations, so design build-up of roads, carparks and building substructures can be finalised prior to construction

Structural concrete being poured in concrete yard slabs. All structural concrete is subject to rigorous testing. Slump tests are carried out on site to check the consistency of the concrete.

Concrete cubes are made and cured on site, then sent to a lab for destructive testing to confirm compressive strength of concrete in accordance with the engineers design.

Watermains being pressure tested to ensure there are no leaks and that pipes can withstand the design operating pressure. Following testing, watermains are chlorinated to sterilise lines, flushed out and water sample bacteria tests taken to ensure water is safe to drink.

All drainage lines are air tested during installation and on completion to ensure pipe lines are properly sealed. Drainage lines are jetted on completion to remove dirt in the line and CCTV surveys carried out to ensure conformity with design.

Temperature testing of tarmacadam AC20 road base prior to laying to ensure it’s within the correct temperature range of the specification.
