Health & Safety Management

It is the policy of Cafferkey Civils Ltd. that all its operations are executed and managed to the highest standards of health and safety. In recognition of the company’s excellent health and safety management system, the company was awarded Safe-T Cert accreditation in 2008. The company achieved Grade A certification in 2012, putting the company in the top 10% of construction companies in the country with this standard of Health & Safety.

Safe-T-Cert is recognised under the ‘Buildsafe’ initiative in Northern Ireland and the ‘Construction Safety Partnership’ in the Republic of Ireland. Excavation for foul water effluent storage tank and pump chamber 8m deep overall on a residential development. Perimeter of excavations are fenced off and sides are benched to remove overburden and allow safe access for operatives to work within the excavation.

Where ground cannot be benched or battered back for deep manholes or pump chambers, steel manhole boxes are used as earthwork supports. Once excavation is complete, boxes are lowered into the excavation allowing operatives to work safely inside.

Installation of deep surface water petrol interceptor installed 7m below ground level. Excavation is well benched, dewatering sump pumping in progress to control ground water and safe ladder access provided.
